Rachel Hawkins was born in Virginia and lives in Alabama. This means she says words like "y'all" and "fixin.'" She taught high school English for 3 years before regaining her sanity and becoming a writer (although she can still teach you the Prologue to The Canterbury Tales in Middle English if you really want her to.) When not working on the HEX HALL series, she can be found ordering things from Amazon that she does not in fact need. Her next book, DEMONGLASS, comes out in 2011.

I was born in Chicago, but we moved to Ohio so fast that I suspect my Illinois residence doesn’t really count. It’s kind of like those people who say, “Yeah, I’ve been to NYC,” but what they really mean is they drove from one airport to the other and spent most of their time in the shuttle placing bets on which cab would get into an accident first. Not that I’ve done that.

Saundra Mitchell has been a phone psychic, a car salesperson, a denture-deliverer and a layout waxer. She's dodged trains, endured basic training, and hitchhiked from Montana to California. She teaches herself languages, raises children, and makes paper for fun. She's also a screenwriter for Fresh Films and the author of Shadowed Summer, The Vespertine and The Springsweet. She always picks truth; dares are too easy.
